Do Less Better

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

We're all kind of doing too much right now.

Every time we say yes to one thing, we're saying no to something else. And it's causing FOMO, commitment anxiety, and distraction from the present.

But what would it look like to slow it all down, be intentional with our choices and commitments, and limit what we do in ways that cares for ourselves and others better?

This is called restraint. And we can all choose to practice restraint as a spiritual discipline.

It certainly isn't always easy. Jubilee 2024 speaker Adrienne Willhoft was honest about that in the workshop she hosted back in February. But it can produce good fruit in our lives.

She offered this definition for restraint: "An intentional choice or practice of limiting personal freedom for our own health, growth, and faithfulness, and for the care of others."

In these limitations, we may just find some freedom. Keep scrolling to listen to the workshop & learn more! Adrienne offers some good practical steps to take to practice restraint. You don't want to skip over this one!

restraint: what does that look like?

Adrienne mentioned a book in her workshop, like many Jubilee speakers do!
