How to Study the Bible | Jacob Rodriguez

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
— John 1:1

Studying scripture can seem like a daunting task. There are so many ways to approach it!

But if we let ourselves get too overwhelmed thinking about studying the Bible, we'll miss the point. Studying scripture will always be worth it, because it builds a strong foundation for our faith and understanding of God that we can take into any job, life event, struggle, or celebration.

It's a lifelong journey and always worth the time. And one aspect of studying scripture that is super helpful is understanding how the Bible is organized. Some questions we can ask are:

  • What is the historical context of the books of the Bible?

  • What do the different books of the Bible tell us about the greater story?

  • How can we equip ourselves to be good students of the Bible?

Wherever you are, you are starting from the right place. Be encouraged that the Bible is the Living Word of God, and He speaks to us through scripture.

so...where do we start?

Jacob Rodriguez, a Jubilee 2024 speaker, helped his workshop attendees understand just how unique, detailed, and comprehensive the story of God is throughout scripture. He also gave workshop attendees a glimpse into different tools that can be used to study scripture. We encourage you to listen below!

The Living Word of God is too powerful of a thing to ever be a waste of our time. Crack open your Bible or some scripture on your phone and simply read.
