Redemption | Claude Atcho
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
—Ephesians 1:7
Sin entered the world, and God’s very good creation was deeply fractured.
And it still is deeply fractured.
We continue to turn away from intimacy with our Creator God in the pursuit of our own knowledge and power, just like Adam and Eve. We choose to eat forbidden fruit instead of savoring the good fruit God gives us.
But thankfully, the story doesn’t end with our brokenness. There is redemption.
But a fractured creation isn’t really something that can be repaired with a quick fix. Deep problems require serious solutions.
…so how does one buy us back and wipe away the debt of humanity’s sin?
Enter: Jesus.
God LITERALLY came to earth through Jesus. At Jubilee 2024, Claude Atcho said this: “Into this decaying world, the God of Heaven and Earth has touched down. He has put his feet on our soil. He's written himself into our story. He's become for our sake a vulnerable human being in order to set right all that we have broken.”
But Jesus didn’t do this simply by existing on earth. Again, deep problems require serious solutions. Something more serious had to happen.
Enter: the cross.
Jesus was publicly tried and murdered on a made object created to be humiliating and grotesque.
And He willingly went. For us—for you.
Claude Atcho says, “The cross and the resurrection is where Jesus went to war with our sin but also the evil one. It's where Jesus went to battle with the powers of evil and the forces of darkness and death. And He conquered them by giving Himself up to them.”
Redemption | God said, "I will seek after you."
At Jubilee 2024, pastor and author Claude Atcho welcomed us all into a fuller understanding of just what redemption means for us and for the world.
