Redemption
Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”
—Matthew 11:4-6
We left off talking about who could restore this fallen world back to the beauty and goodness it once was.
Welcome to the third part of this great story called the Gospel: Redemption. In this part, everything changes.
One thing we know about God is that we will never actually fully know or understand everything about God. *reads again* We know it’s a strange concept, but we actually think it speaks to God’s beauty and majesty.
God could have snapped his fingers and made everything okay. Or He could have created humans in a way that we would never disobey Him or be put in a position to have fallen in the first place. But He didn’t. Why?
Well, think about how relationships work. Do you know any healthy and thriving relationships where one side controls everything the other one does? We’re talking thoughts, actions, steps—all of it. There really aren’t relationships quite like that. And if they were, yikes…Toxic much?
God created us in His image to be image-bearers to other people. We have free will, freedom to think and create, and a desire to worship.
God created us to be in relationship with Him. He is relational at His core. That’s why we have things like prayer, scripture, and the Holy Spirit. Pretty cool, right?
And this is where this relationship really comes into play. In the Redemption part of the story, Jesus walks on this earth welcoming EVERYBODY into a relationship with God. Literally…everybody. God desires a relationship with everybody.
And this relationship changes everything. Watch the video below to find out how!
At Virtual Jubilee 2022, Bryan Loritts asked us where we fish for greatness in our lives. If you’re not sure what that means, watch this video!
If you are reading this and want a relationship with this beautifully mysterious God and Creator we keep talking about, know He is ready and reaching to you with an outstretched hand. We recommend sitting in a quiet space and praying to the God who hears you. Just start by telling him what’s on your mind.
Then, crack open a Bible (or a Bible app!) and read the Gospel of John. It will walk you through the life of Jesus and give you a good starting point.
Want to talk to someone about it? Reply to this email. We’d love to talk to you.
Peace,
Your Jubilee Team
