Creation | Kelly Kapic

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
— Genesis 1:31a

You know we're in a critical state when the first speaker at Jubilee says, "I don't have to ask you if you're exhausted. I just need to ask: how exhausted are you?"

Yikes.

But have we stopped to wonder why?
...why are we so tired?
...why are we expecting ourselves to do so much?

Jubilee 2025 speaker Kelly Kapic actually has an answer to this question. While speaking on Friday night at Jubilee, he pointed out that we have been believing some incorrect doctrine about God's creation. He pointed out that we expect ourselves to do so much because we expect ourselves to have no limits. And this expectation of limitlessness is not from God. It's not how He created us.

God actually created us to be dependent on Him, each other, and on creation itself.

Hard pill to swallow? We get it. We want to think that we can do anything, be anyone, and accomplish everything. But we're finite creatures. Creatures that were created by a God who, after creating us, called us very good.

Kelly also presented us with this truth: “God is super comfortable being God. And he’s very comfortable with us being creatures.”

So our question is...how does being a creature make you feel?

Creation | We are creatures, and God calls us "good."

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are needy and dependent beings. Kelly Kapic gave us that reminder at Jubilee 2025! Watch the video to discover more about our creature-ness and what it means for us now.
