Restoration | Jess Joustra
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
— Revelation 7:9-10
We made it to Restoration. And while it may be the last part of the 4-part Biblical Narrative that we dive into at Jubilee, it certainly isn't the end of the story.
The coolest part about Restoration is that it doesn't "end" the Biblical Narrative. It actually catapults it back into all of Creation. It invites us into this robust and complex and weird and super cool idea that the story actually never ends.
What...?
You may have heard the reference that we are living in the already-but-not-yet. That's a short way of saying that God has already bought us back from our sin with the blood of His son as the payment, He is pushing back on the darkness of the fallen world, and He will return. AND YET…this transformation is currently far from complete.
Jesus literally says in John 16, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
So what do we do with this? Well, that's why we host the Jubilee Conference every year. At Jubilee, we dive into this question by walking through the 4-part Biblical Narrative and learning where our place is in each part. We are each a part of that story.
And on the last day of Jubilee, we talk about the work of God's hands and how we are also a part of that! Jess Joustra drove to Jubilee from Canada to invite us into this conversation, and she reminded us that God never abandons the work of His hands.
"We can trace this Kingdom vision of restoration from beginning all the way to the end. From the garden to the city (as we hear time and time again at places like this). Time and time again, God does not abandon the work of his hands. He is far too powerful for that. Our God is Sovereign over all…even things that seem as though they ought not to be. God doesn't just demolish his original creation. He does something far more astonishing! He keeps it, He salvages it, and He transforms it. And He does it with his very own blood in Jesus Christ." — Jess Joustra, Jubilee 2025
Restoration | The Work of His Hands (and Ours)
Jess Joustra begins her talk with a quote from Herman Bavink: "Christ gives more than sin stole his grace was made much more to abound."
