Redemption | Russ Whitfield
For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
— 1 Corinthians 15:9-10
Our hearts are the strongest muscles in our bodies.
And it's a good thing, because we give our hearts a lot to manage. Not only do they have a crucial physiological job, they have a profound emotional one too. Our hearts carry the deepest of our pain and often flutter at our most joyful moments.
They also tell a story. At Jubilee 2025, Russ Whitfield drew the analogy that our hearts are like cassette tapes: we record onto our hearts different stories and messages. These recordings form a "mixtape" on our hearts, and those mixtapes say a lot about us.
At this point in the Biblical Narrative, we're sitting in the reality that we are broken people living in a broken world. Sin destroyed so much and continues to destroy every day (every hour, every minute, every second). What kind of music are our mixtapes playing?
The Apostle Paul is one of the most talked about apostles in the Bible. He's credited for writing 13 books in the Bible. He probably has a super "good" mixtape history on his heart, right? Not really.
Before there was Paul, there was Saul: a man who persecuted Christians and carried a ton of hatred in his heart. And Saul experienced transformation from the Lord that literally changed the trajectory of everything.
We invite you to keep scrolling and watch Russ' talk from Jubilee to dive deeper.
“The good news is that Jesus—to this day—is still about enemy love. In the story of Saul and every believer, we are reminded that this is who Jesus is.” — Russ Whitfield at Jubilee 2025
This is who Jesus is. Does your heart need some new music?
Redemption | 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
This isn't the first time a Jubilee speaker sang from the main stage. At Jubilee 2025, Russ Whitfield reminded us of the sweetness that happens when we trust Jesus and invite him to record new music on our hearts. Watch the video below to hear the Good News that has the final word.
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.
